I am not rooting for Boston Rob, not in his first, second, third and even this fourth try but Episode 8 of Survivor Redemption Island showed that Rob is indeed a pro. He proved to everyone that he’s the only castaway who joined the game four times because he has the boldest move. Blindsiding Matt the first time was surprising. I mean, you think they are in a tight alliance but here comes a pissed off Rob because of a back-to-back loss seeing a goodie goodie Matt, shaking hands with the tribe that beat them twice. Then, for all you know it, Matt was sent off to Redemption Island.
However, Matt’s faith in God remained strong despite the fact that he was blinded by his tribe whom he trusted so much. He was able to win every single duel in Redemption Island and last time Jeff Probst announced that whoever will win between Matt and Sarita will be able to rejoin the team for the merge. Matt’s foot was injured and to his surprise the challenge is an endurance challenge but then again the injury is not enough to put his spirit down and still he emerged as the winner and was able to rejoin the team.
The Merge- Merloni
Here comes another “hit” from Boston Rob. He said Merloni means sea- unity which the team liked so much so they decided to use the name for their Merged tribe. However, during the interview Rob revealed the Merloni means nothing and it’s just a hidden joke between him and Amber. It’s the name of a stuffed animal which Amber has. Crazy!
Anyway, crazier thing is Matt. He knows the fact that Rob and the rest of the team betrayed him but still his gut tells him that he should stick with the tribe. Mike of the former Zapatera bribed him that he will bring him until Final Three if only he and Andrea will jump ship. But what did Matt do? He went up to Rob and told him that he was actually planning to jump ship but he realized that he’d rather stick with the tribe and decided to just forget about everything. Oh come on Matty, that’s just too much information to divulge and you even tell it to the one and only Boston Rob?! That’s just a crazy move!
First of all, Rob is not very comfortable of Matt going back to the game because he was the mastermind of the blindside but after this talk he realized even more that Matt cannot be trusted because he just revealed everything the other tribe told him and if he’s like that, he can do it with Rob later on in the game, and Rob just didn’t want this, so with that Matt sealed his own fate.
Tribal Council
At the Tribal Council, Ralph stood up when Probst asked for the hidden Immunity Idol and gave his idol for Mike…. That was just a lame move, Rob managed to put a smile in his face thinking “what a waste”. Why? Well, when Probst read the votes, Grant received five straight votes from the former Zapatera tribe then Steve, (Steve was shocked and Matt smiled) then the surprise came after when Jeff read the next six votes all have Matt’s name…and boom Matt was blindsided twice.
That was really a clever move orchestrated by Rob and the poor blonde Matt didn’t see it coming…again! Oh he’s just clueless so now he’s back in the Redemption Island. Hopefully this serves as a lesson for him that in the game of Survivor you should be careful with the information you will share…and you can’t trust someone so much most especially the one who just blindsided you.
He deserves this title. I mean he’s definitely at his best element this season. He used all his experiences and knowledge of the game to correct his past mistakes and eventually win the title this time around. Congrats Boston Rob! You may be a cold-blooded villain of the game but you’re definitely a winner and Sole Survivor this season!
