Amazing Betong Wins Survivor Philippines

Survivor Philippines | Posted by survivormuch
Feb 12 2012

Betong, the underdog, the one who is always willing to sacrifice his own self to protect others, the one who has not enough confidence wins Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown. Isn’t that amazing?

As expected, whoever Mara and Stef brings to the Final 3 with them will win. Four out of seven jury members voted for Betong – original Tala members Chuckie, Arthur and Maey plus the guy he ousted in the Final 3 spot KC. Well, KC knew to himself that Betong would win it after he was voted out. On the other hand, the Volcanoes – John and Arnold voted for their “girl” Mara and Gino voted for his partner Stef.

Betong deserves his win but we cannot still take away the fact that if it’s not because of the jury, Betong would have been out in the Final 3. With that, you cannot blame KC for being “bitter” about the result and for walking out after Betong was announced as Celebrity Sole Survivor. However, it is still not enough to think that KC would win if he reached the Final 3. How can we be sure that the jury will vote for him to win if we saw how eager they were to vote him out to the point that they signalled and mouthed to the castaways to vote out KC? I guess we will never know the answers of the could’ve been situation because of the jury’s unfair actions. I still can’t take what they did. Yes, they were all bitter because they were voted out but don’t they respect the game and rules? They should’ve waited for their turn to talk and not try to influence the final outcome.

Anyway, this season is I believe a better one compared to the last Celebrity Showdown. The castaways knew the game, there was no particular castaway who run the show unlike last season wherein Aubrey Miles clearly was running the whole show and was just voted out because of the illogical twist that the jury members together with the Final 4 will vote out one castaway to reveal the Final 3. Another great thing about this season is that the challenges were all exciting because most are based from Survivor US. They stick by the original rules. But the only flaws are the quitters (not 1 or 2 but 5 quitters) and the “bitter” jury who broke the rules and talked to the castaways to influence their vote.

Again, Congrats Betong. You may be weak and you may be too paawa but the fact that you reached the end and garnered the majority of the jury votes is already enough to make you deserving! You are amazing indeed!

KC Voted Out because of the Bitter Jury

Survivor Philippines | Posted by survivormuch
Feb 08 2012

It would have been a wise choice to vote out KC but not if the idea came from the jury.

Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown is reaching its final stretch but the twists and drama are continously flowing. I mentioned in my last post how it would be a wise decision for Mara and Stef to vote out KC instead of Betong since they will be able to have better argument against the “weakling” Betong instead of the “challenge dominator” “lovable” KC. However, I also mentioned last time that it would’ve been a great decision but the castaways especially Betong looked to be clueless of the bigger picture.

Now, here comes the Tribal Council. Maey was shown first mouthing KC to Betong and the rest of the castaways while Richard was talking. Then, Gino managed to whisper an explanation as to why KC should be voted out. He said to Stef and Mara “you two had better chances if you will vote out KC”. Imagine, Gino was able to explain that considering the fact that the jury members are not allowed to talk? DUH!!!!

Richard noticed Gino talking so he asked Gino to stop because it’s unfair. Gino said sorry but then again he insisted that they all vote out KC. The rest of the jury looked tense and signalling as well. But, it was Gino who appeared to be most eager in voting KC Montero out. I wonder why is Gino so bitter towards KC? They were allies. KC never betrayed him. KC did not write his name down. So, where all the bitterness coming from? Oh well, yes of course Gino was so bitter that he planned everything with KC but he was long been out while KC is one step closer to winning so he did all the best that he could to pull KC down. What a classy act!

Gino can clear his name for all he wants – he could say how he’s not the only jury member signalling or mouthing to the castaways but the thing is he is the ring leader, the mastermind – he even brainwashed Maey to go against KC when the truth is he’s the only jury member that KC did no wrong to.  So that is enough to call him BITTER.

Now, with all the mouthings from the jury, Stef whispered to Mara – KC. Now, they are seeing the bigger picture. Now, they already realized that KC is the biggest threat that they should stay away from.

Again, I would say, it’s a good decision contrary to what KC mentioned that “it’s the dumbest move” and that the girls just gave away the game to Betong. BUT, it was totally unfair because the idea came from the bitter jury. They are so bitter that they forgot to follow the rules and because of them, the game is already tainted.

How can we be sure that Mara and Stef only came up with the decision because of the jury’s mouthings? It is possible that they realized KC is the biggest threat because of his statements when Richard asked him “what will be his basis in deciding who will be on the Final 3 with him”. He answered something like “Of course I want to win, everybody wants to win. So at the end of the day, I do not want to be fighting against a person that is “more deserving” than I am”. If you were Mara and Stef, you could realize that KC is right. Therefore, why would you bring someone who is deserving like KC. So vote out KC. But now, we will never find the real reason why the two girls decided last minute to vote out KC. It is all because of the bitter jury. They should be getting used to hearing the word BITTER to describe them because THEY ARE.

Last year, Aubrey Miles who played the best Survivor game was voted out by the jury because of the illogical twist that the jury will vote out together with the final four to reveal the Final 3. It was totally a bad call from the Survivor staff since if they had stick to the rules, the winner Akihiro Sato would not even be in the Final 3 since three out of the Top 4 (Solenn, Ervic and Aubrey) voted Akihiro out. This season, the staff seemed to realize that they shall stick by the original rules so there were no involvement anymore from the jury to reveal the Final 3. BUT the bitter jury decided to play by their own rules by influencing the castaways to vote KC out despite the fact that they are not allowed to talk. With that, KC was totally robbed.

We will find out who will be the next Celebrity Sole Survivor. Will it be Mara, Stef or Betong? Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown airs the Finale on Friday, Feb 10.

Maey Is Out..Betong Tries to Survive

Survivor Philippines | Posted by survivormuch
Feb 05 2012

I thought Maey is going to be part of the Final 3 but she failed to win the Immunity challenge so as expected everyone except Betong voted her out. I love Maey and I believe that she could really win the title given the chance that she’s in the Final 3 however, it is truly a sensible decision to vote her out this time around. KC, Mara and Stef knew that they stand very little chance of winning the votes of the jury if they will be fighting against Maey. So, there was not much to think about – when Maey lost in the Immunity challenge, it’s done deal that she’s going home next. At least, she already has a car!

Now, Betong is left alone in the island feeling more like an outcast around KC, Mara and Stef. Of course, Maey is his source of strength. With that, I thought, Betong will really win the last Immunity challenge. He almost got it! He was only fighting against Mara since KC and Stef were already out of the challenge. But in the end, Betong still fell short. Almost but not quite. With that, it is very likely that he will be out next.

But if I were Mara and Stef, I would think about it twice. Do they want to fight against KC in the finals? What would be their edge? KC dominated the challenges from the very beginning. He’s honest. He’s likable. He did not betray anyone and he could easily claim that he’s innocent in all the blindsiding moves. Does Mara or Stef has an edge over those credentials? The answer is a big NO! Unless the jury will decide to come up with a bitter vote. On the other hand, if they bring Betong in the finals, they could easily say that Betong was weak. He did not win any challenge. He basically rode with the waves. Without Maey, he probably won’t be able to think clearly of the game. He betrayed Gino and Arnold. With those, Stef and Mara will have better argument. However, I don’t think any of the two girls would still win. BUT, at least they will have better argument unlike if they bring KC to the end. I hope they start to think for once. I doubt if Betong will ever realize that his only chance of getting to the Final 3 is to pull KC down. His respect for KC is too high for him to think about pulling him down or even speak ill about him. But if he’s thinking about winning – he must do it!

We are close to finding out who’s going to be the next Celebrity Sole Survivor. But for now, we shall first know who will be in the Top 3 then we can start guessing who will win in Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown.

KC Wins a Car and Gave One to Maey

Survivor Philippines | Posted by survivormuch
Jan 31 2012

Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown had a very touching episode tonight. Well, unlike the past three seasons of Survivor Philippines the big reward challenge (Car on the 1st and 3rd seasons and Condo unit on the 2nd season) for this season which is a brand new car did not involve the winner to be choosing between the prize and Immunity because in this season, the winner gets to pick another castaway to win another car. Isn’t that generous?

The challenge was both physical and mental – the castaways were blindfolded and tied up in a rope (individually) and will need to go through series of bamboos wherein they need to go up and down alternatively to reach the model puzzle that they need to memorize. After they memorized the patterns they will get the puzzle pieces and moved back to the starting line to complete the puzzle. From the looks of the challenge, it will be KC’s challenge. He’s very good with physical and mental challenges because he’s fast and he has lots of strategies. Well, in the end, he really did dominate the challenge and with that, yes KC won a brand new car.

Soon after Richard Gutierrez announced that KC won a car for himself, he mentioned about the twist. There will be another car and KC needs to choose among Stef, Mara, Maey and Betong. Everyone was looking and probably begging KC to give them the car. We saw Stef looking at KC like “hey we’re close now so give me the car”. Mara was like “hey I lost Arnie, poor me, why don’t you give me the car to cheer me up”. Betong was like “hey KC, you gave me the water remember, why don’t you give me the car now”. While Maey, in all honesty, I thought Maey looked like she’s not expecting KC to give her the car. I felt like Maey was at least hoping that KC would give the prize to Betong. Then, KC was like “okay, I chose Maey”. Boom! It was really touching.

KC gave a very logical reason why he chose Maey. He said, Maey is lovable. Maey is loved by the jury so giving Maey the car would make him look good in the eyes of the jury and will eventually make them love him too. That was indeed a smart move from KC. However, I think (feelingera lang ako), KC also did that because deep in his heart, he knows Maey is a genuinely nice person. She cooks for everyone. She makes everyone laugh. She’s not paawa and most importantly she shows a lot of love and respect for KC. That I think is the real reason why KC chose Maey. He just came up with his logical reasoning during the confessional to appear manly and well yeah strategical. Haha I said I am just feelingera here that I know what’s running in KC’s mind.

Anyway, with that, I really think KC and Maey are both deserving to win Survivor. They both played well in their own terms and they are both not paawa. For now, my fearless forecast is that Maey will win tomorrow’s Immunity challenge. Haha. We’ll see….. How about you, share your thoughts as well.

Gino Out, Maey Moving Closer to the Top

Survivor Philippines | Posted by survivormuch
Jan 21 2012

Gino dela Pena was one of those players who entered Survivor thinking he knows very much the game – that he can manipulate everyone by his words. Oh well, that’s at least what he thought. He thought that he was making a good play for himself – he kept on washing his hands that he’s just a follower and that somebody else is deciding for their alliance. He thought Maey and Betong are one hundred percent on his side. But I think he was just hallucinating. How would Maey and Betong trust someone like him who left his partner to form alliance with another group and when he realized that their ship is sinking, he immediately went back to his partner (Stef) to slay an original ally who supposedly doing another plan behind their backs. Is that someone that you could trust? Well, not if you were Maey and Betong, who saw how these Bulan guys take down the original Tala tribe members one by one. The two are never afraid to make fun of themselves but they are not dumbs. They know that these original Bulan tribe members were just using them to take one another down.

When they saw a good opportunity like Mara and Arnold giving the Immunity bracelet (to Maey) and promised that they were going to the finals, they grabbed it. Well, that was indeed a very clever choice. They were not indebted to anybody so no one can accuse them of being backstabbers or something. Now because of the move that they decided to take, they not only get rid of one strong competitor but more importantly, they are in a very safe position than ever.

Gino was obviously blindsided and I bet it was hard for him because in his mind, everyone is his people. Well, nah-ah Gino. On the next Immunity challenge, everyone is hoping that Arnold would not win so they can get rid of him. But as we all know, Arnold is one tough competitor who is always giving 110% in every challenge. The challenge went down with him and Maey as the final two competitors. Maey was very determined to beat Arnold and yeah right she did it this time – fair and square. Maey won the Immunity and safe in the next Tribal Council. Guess what happened next, Mara went up to Maey to congralute her and ask if she could return the Immunity bracelet that she gave. Wooah Mara has a really thick face indeed. Ano yon bawian?

Well, whatever happens one thing is for sure and that is Maey is dark horse – not Mara and not Stef. Mara said that Stef was just there because she was basically just riding the waves but what about her? She has been kissing Arnold’s ass for the longest time and isn’t that riding the waves too? She will not be there without Arnold. But Maey is different. Maey came from a losing tribe of Tala. She worked her ass of to stay in the game – she’s great in endurance challenges too and not to mention how she can be very logical with the way she speaks. I really think Maey has a great chance of winning Survivor.

Let us see if Maey can keep up until the Final Tribal Council. Let us also watch out who will be going next and be the 5th member of the jury in Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown.

Montero Brothers in Survivor Philippines

Survivor Philippines | Posted by survivormuch
Jan 11 2012

What if KC Montero joined in Survivor Philippines with his brother Troy Montero as his partner and not Geneva Cruz who quitted on Day 1? Then, the Philippine Volcano Rugby teammates John and Arnold would have met a tough competition. But sadly, no, KC didn’t join in with his brother Troy. Anyway, we saw how these Montero brothers would look like in a challenge together.

Tonight’s episode of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown featured the castaways’ loved ones. This is Troy’s second time to guest on the show as he visited his wife Aubrey Miles on last season of Survivor. What about next year? Would Troy be finally a castaway? We’ll see…

The challenge was a messy one literally, as the castaways together with their loved ones are tasked to dive in to a mud pit to fill their buckets with mud. They were not allowed to use their hands to scoop in some mud but nevertheless they can use different parts of their body. Whoever has the heaviest bucket of mud after the allotted 5 minutes will win the reward challenge.

Every castaway seems eager to win the challenge to be able to spend time with their loved ones in a hotel resort but in the end, no one even came close to the Montero brothers.

KC clearly knows so many techniques and very clever to find a way to win a challenge. He saw that at the edge of the mud pit lays bigger and heavier pack of mud so he settled for those knowing that it will definitely weigh more. In the end, right, no one even came close even the intense duo of Arnold and Chris, another Philippine Volcano rugby player.

As part of the reward challenge, KC got to choose two of the castaways with their loved ones to join with them in the hotel resort trip. Without thinking much he chose his closest ally Gino (together with his sister) and Betong (with his sister) to make up for the last Reward challenge wherein Betong only got a glass of water reward. However, the tricky part was when Richard told KC that he also needs to pick one castaway who needs to be separated from his “loved one”.  At first, KC seems confused but then again he chose Arnold who is with his teammate. The choice was indeed logical since others are with family members like Mara with his dad, Maey with his sister and Stef with her mom unlike Arnold with his teammate/buddy.

Although KC obviously justified his choice, we know that KC also did that as a form of revenge (of some sort) to Arnold who tried to vote him out last Tribal Council. In this stage of the game, KC is like playing party poker, he is bluffing by calling Arnold brother, saying how sorry he is to make that decision but deep inside he wants Arnold out of the game. By the looks of it, KC is having a better hand compared to Arnold.

Arnold definitely needs to work double to win Immunity challenge again or else he might soon follow his teammate John in the jury house. We will find out more in Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown.

Biggest Backstab in Survivor Philippines

Survivor Philippines | Posted by survivormuch
Dec 15 2011

Carlo Gonzales of Tala tribe in Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown welcomed Arnold, Mara and Stef who came from Bulan tribe. He knew that they were former tribemates of Maribel who was known as the cancer that weakened their original Tala tribe. He knew that Arnold was once too physical and nearly injured him from a previous challenge when they were still from opposing tribe. But then again, Carlo was not quick to judge. He didn’t judge any of the original Bulan tribe members instead they welcomed them with open arms, ready to form solid alliance with them when he saw that Arnold was sincere or so he thought and so had we.

Carlo was honest when he mentioned to Arnold that they should vote out Stef because she seems weak and she looks as if her heart is not in the game. He didn’t do that decision based on loyalty to Tala tribe. Why? Because he already trusted Arnold. He thought they were similar, he thought their thinking is the same.He thought they were making the tribe strong by removing the weak no matter if he/she is Tala or Bulan originally. Arnold agreed and even threw lots of accusations about how Stef looks very weak in every challenge, how she is not useful in camp ever since they were in Bulan and blah blah blah. With what Arnold said, Carlo, Chuckie and Maey became more determined to oust Stef.

But tonight, Arnold of Volcanoes proved to Carlo and to the rest of the viewers that he isn’t like Carlo. They were not feeling the same thing. They were not thinking the same thing. Their intentions were different. VERY DIFFERENT! Why? Because he is NOT genuine, he is NOT sincere, he is NOT honest and he is NOT fair which everything Carlo is.

Richard Gutierrez asked the Tala tribe what would be the basis of their voting, Carlo said what he truly believed in “to keep the tribe strong” and Arnold backed-up his statements.

After the voting, Richard asked if anybody with Immunity bracelet or “dagdag bawas anting-anting” would like to use it. And boom! Arnold said he would and he would like to give it to Stef….!!!! What!!!!! There’s a part of me that felt Arnold would do it but then again I thought he’s a genuine person and he seems nice so he would not betray Tala tribe who welcomed them. But yeah he proved himself wrong and not only did he betray the Tala tribe, he personally backstab Carlo who was nothing but nice and welcoming to him and to all of them.

They may call it the biggest blindside so far, but to me it is the biggest and worst level of backstabbing. With that, Carlo Gonzales was voted off of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown. His exit and the way he reacted with the result again proved how gentleman and sports he is. As for Arnold, yeah right, he said someething, did another thing and said another thing again. He said “he wanted to keep the tribe strong” then he voted out Carlo by giving his Immunity bracelet to Stef (who they all believed the weakest in their tribe) then finally he said he felt he broke the morale of the tribe when they voted out Carlo. BUT WHY DID YOU DO THAT?  He could’ve at least be a man and justify his decision to vote out Carlo but no he’s trying to wash his hands clean. Sounds familiar huh? But let Chuckie says it all “Nararamdaman ko noon na ‘Lintik ka! Trinaydor mo kami”.
